Neck Pain
Neck Pain Is Not Permanent
Let Us Start Your Recovery
A typical head weighs about 10-12 pounds… All that weight is sitting on top of your spine supported by a strong foundation of bone and muscle. What happens when that strong foundation is toppled by bad posture and poor habits? The short answer is… it makes your head feel heavier for your body which can lead to inflammation and cause neck pain.
Our Care & Cure physiotherapists are trained to identify the causes of neck pain and treat neck pain through hands-on treatments along with strengthening techniques and habitual training to ensure your injury stays in the past.

Why You Might Experience Neck Pain
As much as we wish there was a simple answer to this question, you would need a complete physical therapy examination on your neck, upper back, and arms to give you an exact answer. However, our years of experience can provide you with some insight on what could cause neck pain. For starters, as we mentioned before, your head weighs approximately 10-12 pounds when sitting with an ideal posture of your spine. The bad news is not many of us actually sit with an ideal posture for the majority of our day. Coupled with new technology, like computers and smartphones, your posture changes and the weight of your neck can lead to strain, the weight of your neck can lead to strain on the muscles supporting your neck. A 2019 article by Mahmoud et al shows that forward head posture, something we typically have when looking down at our phone, significantly correlated with neck pain in adults and older adults. When we asked our patients to demonstrate how they use their smartphones, the majority of them admit to holding their phone below their chest and looking down at the screen.
